Whether you've never practiced before or you're an experienced yogi, this class combines the use of deep breathing and different postures to achieve a meditative state. Benefits include (but are not limited to) increased strength, flexibility, balance, concentration and bone density. It also helps promote calm and inner peace.
A higher intensity level of class with basic asanas, the use of wrist and ankle weights, if desired, with traditional exercises such as squats, lunges and bicep curls. Combining breath, movement, and focused muscle engagement to increase blood flow, heart rate, balance and strength training without the bulk.
In the Vinyasa tradition you will move through a sequence of poses in tandem with your breath. This format may push you up against your physical edge. However, the movements will be at the pace that allows you to breathe fully through each transition and you will receive tons of options for use of props or alternate poses.
This class is offered every other Sunday starting June 29th so please check its availability on the calendar under "Book Now".
No matter your age or experience, this class is an all-access pass. The perfect place for a beginner to start or on those days when you need to listen to your body and not push so hard! It is a low-impact practice that is a slower paced Hatha yoga class, however, you will still practice the same poses that help you gain strength, flexibility, balance and focus. The sequences are thoughtful movements that help you stay calm and connected while on your mat and in your life.
Somatic Yoga is an intuitive-based practice that strengthens and rests the body very specifically. The art of surrender is a learned one and can be obtained through practice. By combining the effort/work and the surrender/rest, the body, mind and spirit have more capability to release trauma, relax and recalibrate.
In this 60-minute practice, you'll begin with 35-minutes moving through a vigorous sequence of poses in tandem with the breath. We'll close with 25-minutes of static poses designed to break up dysfunctional fascial patterns so you can move through your life freely and powerfully. The focus will sometimes be on a specific body of the body or "family" of body parts, or it may be more based on an energetic quality, intention and story.
Beginning June 27th, this class is offered every other Friday night to start your weekend off right! "Book Now" to check the calendar.
During the practice of Yin yoga, we release muscular engagement to target the connective tissues (tendons, ligaments, joints and fascia). Yin uses gravity, body weight, and props in slow, static, steady holds to carefully put appropriate stess on specific areas of the body. Over time, this creates space and length in a way that allows the tissues to open gradually in order to avoid injury. As you settle into the pose you're invited to breathe slowly, deeply and three dimensionally to find the spaces in the breath, body and mind.
This men's only stretch class will target those specific areas and muscle groups that get especially tight such as the hamstrings, shoulders or low back, for example. This class will typically last 45-60 minutes and is a perfect complement for those that go to the gym or simply need to let go of some extra tension and tightness that is being held in the body! This class is taught by different instructors; each bring their own unique style.
Classes are very calm and slow paced. Props are used to support the body in a comfortable position to achieve calm and promote healing. RY can help you identify and address underlying causes of imbalance, stress and symptoms like anxiety, depression, digestive issues and pain, encouraging deep relaxation as the basis of recouperation, rejuvenation and renewal for the body and mind!
Join us on the third Thursday of the month for Yoga Nidra and Sound Healing with Mermaid Magen. "Yogi Sleep" begins with a little stretch, moving awareness around the body, resulting in deep relaxation. Each meditation is original and written by Magen herself! During the extended Savasana singing bowls are played, immersing your body in healing vibrations. Benefits include but aren't limited to better sleep, balanced hormones, reduced pain and anxiety, lower blood pressure and cholesterol. The wavelengths absorbed into the body can encourage tissue repair, stimulate cellular activity and more!
